The ResponsiveEd System is based on seven major distinctives
Comprehensive Diagnostics & Measurement
Accurate diagnostics is the key to identifying a student. For students to experience success, they must first be diagnosed. Learning must be measured. This involves 2 types of diagnostics. First, there is the level identification of the student. The second is the content identification of a student. The level identification will target where the student is in certain areas, such as reading, achievement, learning styles, and grade equivalency. The content identification targets the strengths and deficiencies of the student when compared with the level identification.
Personalized Academic Plan
Once diagnostics have been conducted, the results and data must be used to 1) Place the student at a correct level within the school and curriculum, and 2) develop an accurate curriculum plan and course. The student must have learning gaps addressed. Students must also be allowed to learn at an accelerated pace when possible. This occurs through the integration of technology. Students must be prescribed a “course completion” plan, an “intensive literacy” plan and a “TAKS readiness” plan.
Rigorous & Relevant Learning Opportunities
Students must be given multi-faceted opportunities for success after graduation. Rather than adhere to a one-dimensional expectation for alumni, ResponsiveEd develops opportunities for students that give them a system of choice and personal growth. Students will be prepared for college, experienced in community service, connected with their future work environments, and trained in entrepreneurial pursuits.
Differentiated & Self Directed Instruction
Just as students are different, with unique styles of learning and abilities, so must the academic environment also be differentiated for each student. ResponsiveEd utilizes extensive technology systems to offer instruction for students that can differentiate between each child and increases the ability of students to think and learn independently. In the early childhood environments, students are introduced to differentiated instruction with technology embedded in the classroom structure. In later years, students can work independently as a natural expectation.
Collaborative Learning Environment
Educators involved with students in an ResponsiveEd school will work together to monitor student progress, facilitate effective learning opportunities, and share collective wisdom to best reach and help students. This collaboration is intentional and aggressive in using data and experience to form the most effective strategies for each student.
Caring & Compassionate Staff
While acknowledging that teaching is a skilled profession, ResponsiveEd educators must possess and exhibit a true love for the classroom, the campus, and the child. Educators at ResponsiveEd are expected to not only love teaching but to also love the student. While holding students to a high standard, educators will consistently provide empathetic and caring love towards each child.
Smaller Campuses “By Design”
Research shows that student body populations thrive within certain numerical boundaries. ResponsiveEd intentionally designs campuses to operate on a scale designed to create effective learning opportunities for each student. This principle is in effect for campuses as well as classrooms.
